Home Monitoring
The photo gallery is divided into sections based on where the bird is predominantly seen. This does not mean that the birds are not seen in other locations. For example some forest birds are sometimes seen in open paddocks (plains) and inland water birds are often seen on the coast especially where there is an estuary.
To view the birds click on the individual group below. |
Small Forest Birds - usually found feeding on the ground or in bushes and low branches. The larger in this group such as whistlers are often higher up in trees.
Large Forest Birds - these birds generally habit the forest but are sometimes seen on the open plains adjacent to the forest.
Parrots and Cockatoos - generally habit the bush but particularly cockatoos are seen in large flocks in plains area feeding on crops.
Honeyeaters - feed on nectar, fruit and sugary secretions of insects. Found in all terrestrial habitats in Australia. 67 species in total.
Plains - most often seen in the open plains and farming areas although many of these birds will roost and breed in the bush.
Inland Water - many of these birds are also seen along the coast particularly where there are estuary waters.
Raptors - are carnivorous birds of prey including owl species. Generally seen hunting over open plains areas.
Coastal - these habit the coastline and feed in the sea and shoreline. Nesting on the beach or adjacent cliffs.
