Land for Wildlife and Trust for Nature September 2013
On Sunday the 15 September 2013 we gathered at the Webb property in Wonyip to listen to our 2 guest speakers Kylie Singleton (LFW) and John Hick (TFN). They spoke about Land For Wildlife and Trust For nature respectively giving the crowd of 31 an insight into these 2 organisations and their general principles and aims. Our Hosts Melissa and Peter Webb also educated us on the family history of their property and the efforts to date and aims for the future in protecting and revegetating their property. This property was largely burnt out in the early 1900's but with care by the Webb family a considerable amount of the property is now revegetated. Following the deliveries from the speakers 2 property walks were undertaken giving an insight as to why Peter and Melissa and their family want to preserve the vegetation consisting in part of large tree ferns, large eucalyptus and lots of diversity.
The walk was followed by a BBQ.
The event was held in the loft of the Webb's barn which is a great venue and allowed lots of space for displays by LFW, TFN and our new extensive display material put together by Kaye Proudley.
