Friday 19/02/2016 @ 9.30a,m. B.B.P. Binginwarri Biodiversity Project -
A half day in the Alberton West State Forest checking for any new flora to be found. Meet at the fire dam on corner Hedley Range and Ridge Roads. We aim to travel further into the forest this time to repeat our trip of June 2014 to just east of Kay Hill. These days are a pleasant wander in repeated forest areas (repeated because some things only grow at certain times of the year) to try to identify and record the plant life we find, to try to educate ourselves and others.

Meet 9.30am at DELWP Office, Commercial St, Yarram. We may car pool. We're going to the Sale Wetlands this time. If time allows we may also include a side trip into Sale to see the newer wetland at the back of Lake Guthridge. Bring binocs, morning tea, lunch, drinks & a chair. After finishing here we'll move on to Marian Macdonald's farm dam next door, ETA approx 5.35pm for about an hour.....so...a late night!

Meet outside DELWP Office, Commercial Rd, Yarram at 9.45am, we may car pool. Travelling to GVC at 1a Sale Rd, Maffra.
Whether you grew up on a farm, have fond memories of a cousin's farm, or just like old vehicles and machinery, come along to see the rare and otherwise special farm vehicles that are on show both in the GVC Motor Museum and outside in the grounds. Meet outside DELWP Office, Commercial Rd, Yarram at 9.30am. We may car pool. Bring binocs, morning tea, lunch(if you like), a chair, dress appropriately for the weather and let Kaye know you want to attend please.

Meet at 9.30am at a place still to be determined. The very knowledgeable Faye Vyner will be our leader once again and we'll be searching for the prettiest, most unusual and well....any fungi at all that we can find! Come explore the fun-guys of the mushroom world! Please bring morning tea (and lunch if you desire), a stool or chair, a kneeling pad, and don't forget the leech repellant - there is usually lots of kneeling or leaning in damp places where leeches lurk! Please let Kaye know by Tues 7th if you are coming please.

Bring drinks, snacks, etc. and wear appropriate clothing. Refer to the first item on this calendar for more details of what these days are about. Call Kaye if you are coming please.
Friday 15/07/2016 @ 6.30pm. Annual Meeting -
6.30pm at the Binginwarri Hall. Speaker to be advised. An evenng meetng for a change. The brief meeting will kick off at 6.30pm so please be punctual; to be followed by a mixed casserole tea - ALL PROVIDED - lastng approx. 3/4 hour. Our guest speaker will be giving an illustrated talk at approx. 7.45pm. This promises to be a different slant on Landcare and a very interesting presentation. BYO drinks if desired but all other food, tea and coffee supplied. A nice door prize will be offered.
We invite all Landcarers, members and friends to put forward your ideas/suggestions on what direction you'd like to see the Bingi Sub-group go, or just to have your say. If ever you've thought about helping to organise the running of this small but vital group, now may be the time to offer! New helpers would definitely be appreciated by John and Kaye. Please call Kaye by Tues 12th to let us know for catering purposes.

10.30am for a local start, at a place to be decided. A purely social outing to Cafe Escargot and Snail Farm - 10 Old Nichols Rd, Mirboo Nth. (Approx 1&1/4 hour drive from Yarram.) Come try something a little different for lunch, and if desired a film or guided farm walk - free of charge to those eating. But if eating snails is too creepy for you, you can still come enjoy the social outing with us because vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free and non-snail-eaters are amply catered for as well! Share dishes are a feature. Rock up to the Binginwarri Hall at 11.30am to celebrate what we hope will be the end of another successful year in Landcare.
I think we may have another speaker if anyone can think of a person or subject they'd like to hear about. Please let Kaye know and she'll try to organise it. A free BBQ will be put on if you'd like to bring a small salad and/or desserts to share; tea and coffee provided, BYO drinks if required. - Flora - including identification, whether indigenous or exotic and their habits
- Observing any long term effects in the area such as isolating remnant forest from livestock, erosion due to tree clearing, repair to erosion due to tree planting, effects on land adjacent to treed areas be it remnant or planted, etc
- Fauna – including identification
- Other geographical and topographical aspects.
Binginwarri Landcare Group is open to suggestions for future activities.
If you:
- Have a suggestion for a location for the above future events and ideas·
- Have a suggestion for future activities
- Would like assistance with Landcare activities such as tree planting, invasive weed control, erosion control, etc.
- Know of a property which has a range of flora or fauna which is a bit exceptional and you think may be worthy of a Walk, Talk and Gawk
- Require assistance finding a solution to a problem you have on your land
